[He asks Riddle to meet with him during his break.

There are a few things he still needs to talk to him about, now that the younger man's had time to process. While offering him a homemade muffin, Jamil gestures for them to find a place to sit.]

Let's sit up there - nobody should bother us.

[Jamil smirks softly at the confusion. Hopefully Riddle likes chocolate chip.]

[Once they're settled into a comfortable place, he pulls out his own food.]

Since we'd be talking, I figured I'd make a little extra. I was running short on time, however, so I was left guessing which kind you might like. My other option was this:

[As Riddle will be able to tell when he holds the other one out, it's made with strawberries and possibly white chocolate? It's clear he doesn't mind; he'd made two different kinds for a reason.]

[He just gives a tiny smirk.]

A light, embarrassed blush rises to his cheeks. But... after a moment, he gives Jamil a smile.]

Thank you very much.

[He relaxes in his seat. Somehow, Jamil is very... calming, to him. It's much easier to worry less.]

Now then. What is it you wanted to talk about?

[He manages a small smile before settling in with his food. To the question, he lets out a soft sigh and nods.]

It's about the... "holiday" coming up. Put simply, they lift the laws banning terrible crimes, such as non-consensual sex and other acts of violence.

Given it's coming soon, the time to prepare for it is growing short. I want to help make sure you'll be safe. Unfortunately, I can't offer my place, given... Floyd might be even harder to control, during this.

[Has Jamil ever seen Riddle more offended and horrified in his life? Probably not.]

That— please tell me you aren't serious!

[He knows Jamil wouldn't lie or joke about a thing like this. But even considering everything else he's been put through lately... this is, perhaps, the biggest shock to his system.

[He lets out a slow breath and pulls out his device. After some scrolling, he pulls up this post.]

[Jamil moves to sit next to Riddle, holding his device for him to see it. And... maybe lets their arms touch as a subtle attempt at comforting.]

[Riddle reaches out for the device, hand lightly brushing but only taking it if Jamil indicates he'll let him. His brow draws together as he reads it, muscles wound tight.

When he gets to the end of it, he sits back heavily in his chair, staring at the table, letting out small, quick breaths.

He swallows, and, quietly:]

What the hell is this mad land?

Jamil considers for a moment, and then he reaches out to very lightly rest a hand on Riddle's head.]

Breathe with me?

[He very pointedly takes slow, deep breaths.]

[There's a blink when his head is touched, and he looks up to Jamil.

Breathing.. Right. He hadn't even noticed.

He gives a slightly jerky nod and forces himself to slow his breathing, closing his eyes.

After several rounds, he opens his eyes, gratitude in them as he looks at Jamil.]

No apology needed. I understand completely. But... all we can do is prepare ourselves mentally. I intend to try keeping myself locked inside my room, but I'm not sure how well that will work.

For now, all I can promise is that I'll do my best to help look out for you, as long as I'm in a position to.

The words that follow have him relaxing a great deal, and he smiles at Jamil.]

[Jamil starts to eat while Riddle does, though there's a blink at that... reaction. He looks over, blinking a couple more times.]

He takes a handkerchief out to clean his mouth really quick, then looks at Jamil.]

Just the opposite. I had no idea you were so skilled at baking.

[He's attempting to brush that off, but it's obvious he's glad Riddle likes it so much.]
